Dice rumors abound!

Who is in? Who is out?

Newbies Casey Gustus and John Rotchford call it quits. Absent players Berryman & Coursey confirm.

Power Rankings now out!

With Jason Compolongo out for the year, Darik Volpa has a shot at becoming the All time points leader.  He also remains one of two players who have not missed a Dice Tournament, Liars Dice Historian Alan Hansen being the other.   Some say that the self proclaimed  ’Dice Daddy”  is likely to come up short and leave early to meet up with the “Dice Mommy.”

The Power Rankings Statistics suggest another good year for Brett Cametto who has been to four tournaments and scored well in each of them.  Brian Larson and Darik Volpa have also moved up nicely here, while Mike O’Brien has slipped two spots to number three.

The Average Points Per Game ranking has long time missing player David Beaupre at the top, many players point to a softer field and higher scoring games when David was able to put his string of points together.  Case in point Jason Compolongo, who has failed to shine due to tougher competition.  His absence from the competition furthers this point.

An Important Message from The Dice Daddy

Dice Daddy reflecting on 4 World Championships.

Dearest Dicers,

It has come to my attention that many of you are questioning The Dice Daddy’s planning skills…that the lack of an agenda is confusing for some.  Apparently, the email I sent out four months ago with the date and location of the 16th Annual Liars Cup was not enough.

My apologies.  I assumed that since we have been doing this for 15 years that everyone had figured this out.  My bad.  Perhaps my unique ability to connect the dots is why I am the current and 4-time Liars Dice World Champion.

Let me try this again.

The 16th Annual Liars Dice World Championship will be held July 21-24, 2011 at Brett Cameto’s River House in the Delta. (3912 Ryer Island Road, East. Walnut Grove, Ca)

Like the preceding 15 years the agenda will consist of playing dice, drinking beer, and other tomfoolery (big word, Google that).  Not to worry, there will be other things like sleeping and eating.

You will have to get there.  That will require driving and/or flying.  I suppose you could bike, walk, skateboard or perhaps even swim but I would not recommend that.

For those of you who will fly, you can’t fly directly to the River House as it does not have an airport.  Instead Sacramento is the best bet.  You can even go to sites like www.travelocity.com or www.southwest.com using the Internet to book your ticket.  This is a fairly complex thing to do, so ask a friend to help you.

Bring clothes.  And shoes.  And sunscreen.  And money.  And important prescription drugs.  And dice.  And a dice cup.  And toiletries (a big word for stuff like toothpaste and soap).

Also, you will have to leave the River House when it is over.  This will require that you get back to the airport or drive home.  Just do the opposite of what you did to get to the River House and you should be fine.

I think that’s it Dicers.

Loving regards,

The Dice Daddy

Liars Dice 2011

The big question is where the fuck is it. With attendance similar to that of the Inaugural Liars Dice World Cup, one asks whether its cause is the bad economy or a strategy employed by current world champion Darik Volpa.

“When I first heard about the location, I thought, holy shit this is great strategy for a guy who its trying to tie up a fifth win, ” lauded Alan Hansen. Other dicers feel the same way, ” His first win has always been subject to much scrutiny — there were only 5 players and it was only one day,” followed on Brett Cametto. Darik, more than most, understands that it is easier to win with less players. No player in history has a victory with a few number of participants.

When Darik was asked about the location and the lack of communication as a strategy he had this to say, “I wanted to remove price as an objection and I didn’t want to get stuck with another $1,000 in cost because of players who fail to contribute anything other than their bad breath.”

Volpa Wins!

Down to the wire..

With one game to go it’s Volpa, Rotchford and Larson.

Volpa & Rotchford Take Day One

Volpa gets out to a quick lead on day one. Earning 25 points he leads by six. Volpa took first in 5 out of 6 games.

Rotchford has 19 points and sits in second place.

Dice Pool Announced

Something new at this tournament, a Liars Dice Pool.

The betting structure was adopted from horse racing.  Your goal is to earn as many points as possible by picking the Top Three and Bottom Three Finishers.  Entry into the Dice Pool Costs $20 and with the winner taking the entire pool (any ties shall split the pool).

****** Dicers Not Attending Can Still Bet! *******

The points structure will be as follows.

1st Place = 5

2nd Place = 3

3rd Place = 1

3rd to Last Place = 1

2nd to Last Place = 3

Last Place = 5

All Dicers are eligible to bet on the pool.   Selections will be made on Thursday night.

O’Brien admitted to DTU – Guest Columnist John Rotchford

Mike O’Brien admitted to DTU (dice trauma unit) after having flashbacks of a dice beat down that occurred over two years ago. The details are sketchy but rumors abound of Mike talking serious smack about his then recently won dice world championship, only then to be pummeled like a baby harp seal by SASI regulars, John Rotchford and Dave Mallery, among others.

In a rare interview, Dr. Dice at the DTU stated, “few men can come back from night like that…first out three times in a row..beer bitch for 2 hours straight….walking in those high heels just broke him.”
